Privacy Policy
Stoic Ech'oes is a public educational website at https://stoicechoes.neocities.org/. This policy explains what the website itself does with information when you visit or use its interactive features.
1. Information we intentionally collect
The current public website does not require an account and does not intentionally collect names, email addresses, passwords, payment information, precise location, contacts, or other personal profile data. We do not sell personal information.
2. Stoic Oracle questions
By default, the Stoic Oracle processes question text in the visitor's browser: when supported, it uses an in-browser semantic model, otherwise a local knowledge-matching fallback, and the site code does not transmit that text anywhere. Visitors may separately opt into "Enhanced AI answers" via a clearly labeled toggle beneath the Oracle chat, off by default. When that toggle is on, your question text is sent to a Cloudflare Worker we operate, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to generate a response; that response is returned to your browser and is not stored by us. Turning the toggle off returns the Oracle to fully local, non-transmitted processing for future questions.
3. Third-party network requests
The site may load software libraries or AI model files from third-party content delivery networks, including jsDelivr and model-hosting infrastructure used by the browser AI feature. Like ordinary web requests, those providers may receive technical metadata such as IP address, browser information, requested file, and time of request under their own policies. If you turn on "Enhanced AI answers," your question text is additionally sent to Google's Gemini API (via our Cloudflare Worker), subject to Google's own privacy practices — this only happens when that toggle is on. Social links lead to third-party services such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, whose privacy practices are governed by those services.
4. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
The current build does not add first-party advertising trackers, behavioral advertising pixels, or custom analytics cookies. Neocities and infrastructure providers may process standard server logs necessary to deliver the website.
5. Google account data and OAuth
The current public website does not request Google OAuth permissions. If Stoic Ech'oes later enables a Google-connected feature, the consent screen and this policy will identify the exact permissions requested and how that data is used before the feature is activated. Google user data will not be sold or used for advertising by Stoic Ech'oes.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because the current site does not maintain user accounts or intentionally store Stoic Oracle question text on a Stoic Ech'oes server, there is ordinarily no account record for us to delete. Instructions for any future connected-account data are maintained on the Data Deletion page.
7. Children
Stoic Ech'oes is general educational content and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Visitors should not submit sensitive personal information into the Stoic Oracle.
8. Security
The site uses HTTPS when accessed through its Neocities HTTPS address and references assets through relative or HTTPS URLs. No website can guarantee absolute security, and visitors should avoid entering secrets, passwords, financial details, medical records, or other highly sensitive information.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as site capabilities change. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date on this page.
